During the second semester of my sophomore year I was assigned to teach three classes at O.henry Middle School about India. Me and a group of three other people read the book Interpreter of Maladies to further understand India. This book included nine short stories about peoples lives in india. It provides many hidden facts about India religion, food, and traditions. We also watched several different movies to get a better understanding of India and its cultures. I watched Meet the Patels. It is a comical documentary that follows a man named Ravi in his search for an arranged wife. This helps the watchers better understand the common traditions of the Indian lifestyle. The first class we taught was 6th grade. With our well drawn out lesson plan we separated the class into three groups. Each of our group taught different things then we rotated. Each 6th grader was very interactive they asked questions and raised their hands to answer. Not only did we do stations, we also played an interactive game on the computer to test their knowledge as well as passed out an indigenous hot mix of India. Throughout the class they were tasked to fill out a notes sheet that my group and I had designed. The second class we taught were 7th graders. Different than the 6th graders, they were not as interactive and they had much more attitude. Lastly we taught another 7th grade class and were eventually exhausted. I learned being a teacher just for 3 periods is exhausting and that it is hard to get the respect you deserve.
